drumgods giving lessons?

hi all,
i'm planning on going to California soon to visit a friend of mine,and i was wondering if Weckl,Bissonette,or maybe Mr Holmes would give any personnal lessons.
i know this might sound odd but that would be so great to learn from any of those cats...

I heard that a lot of the top cats have AUDITIONS for lessons... I know David Garibali has done this. They will also charge a fortune and might be more productive spending that time on a session than a student in many cases.

Weckl has enough DVDs to teach you everything he knows... and Gregg has one coming out now. I find it *almost* pointless to take a lesson from a guy that has educational DVDs, since you can just learn from them via video.

got your point CL,but it's not about learning about paradiddles and stuff.i agree you can learn all that stuff from dvd's,but having a professional player giving you advices about things you may never have thought about befor, imo is priceless .
it would be more on the spiritual side of things...
i'm not against learnin' some blazin' chops tho' [img]tongue.gif[/img]
i think those cats are more inclined to notice what is wrong with the way you do something,or the way you approach a concept.
a dvd will never tell you when you're doin' an exercice the wrong way right?
at least not before the next century. [img]wink.gif[/img]

Weckl is in the Valley in Los Angeles. Steve is in Hollywood with a studio in Burbank. Just email them all and see who has time on their schedule.

CL, I can sort of see your point regarding studying with someone who has "educational DVDs, since you can just learn from them via video." However, you really need that feedback! A good instructor can zero in on your weak spots and show you how to improve quicker than trying to do it on your own.

Gregg is obiously the best call for a lesson, among the gods you're talking about, he's very experienced in teaching and conducting exiciting educative material.

I've tried several "greats" here in Denmark, and many of those where extremely skilled, but however didn't have that ability to reach you and learn you something. It would be much better hooking up their DVD's!.

I can tell you,

There are two people I studied with that changed my playing, Bob Armstrong here in London and Gregg Bissonette. They are both inspirational and have the best teaching chops out there.

I'd go for a lesson with Steve Houghton, Gary Chaffee or Freddy Gruber before the Weckls and Donati's....
